Cradle Mountain – is 1 1/2 hour drive from the cottage
Cradle Mountain at the north end of the Cradle Mt – Lake St Clair National Park and is one of Tasmania’s most well-known reserves. World famous National Heritage Site.
Typical day walks:
- Most tourists would walk the Lake Dove Circuit in about 3 hours. (The high level route across the face of Cradle over Hansen’s ridge would be about 6 hours).
- Lake Dove Circuit – mostly boarded with steps – about 3 -6 hrs return
- Marion’s look out – includes a short stiff climb but good views of Cradle Mountain & Dove Lake – about 4 hrs return
- Cradle Mountain – Need early start – 6 -8 hours return – final approaches is a rock climb/scramble
Confirm weather at Visitor’s information centre . As the road is narrow, buses take you from information centre to & from Dove Lake free of charge.
